Suppose you could control and display virtually every parameter of a complex studio flash setup of up to sixteen light units, right from your camera. Not just the basics – everything. All without wires!
In a single glance you could see and control the relative flashpower and model lamp brightness of all sixteen lights, from 1.56 to 6400WS per light.
But what if you could also see the actual camera f-stop of each light, or of all lights, or of any particular group of lights – from a built-in high accuracy flashmeter that allows setting ISO and exposure time and exact calibration from your lights to your camera?
Say you could then bracket all lights, or any group of lights, in precise 1/10f digital steps, while automatically updating the camera f-stops and power levels without re-metering.
But there’s more – lots more. If your system contains lights with different WS ratings and model lamp wattages, what if this was automatically compensated for? You’d always see a deadly accurate what-you-see-is-what-you-get (WYSIWYG) proportionality between modeling preview and flash exposure.

Suppose you could select any one light and see an exact digital readout of the camera f-stop, t.1 flash duration, color temperature, modeling watts, flash WS and the relative flashpower using the European standard numerical 0 to 10 scale. As you adjust the power, imagine each parameter would
automatically update.
Next, suppose you could set the status of recycle beepers, slaves, model lamps, and even power lights on or off – from the camera.
Say you were using CYBER COMMANDER™ with a combination of AlienBees™, White Lightning™, ZEUS™, our upcoming all-digital Einstein™ lights, other brands and a speedlight or two. Oh! What if the display told you exactly what light version and head is on each channel and you don’t have to remember what channel number is which light. The naming menu allows you to use names like “Left Main”, etc.
If that weren’t enough, visualize being able to store and retrieve an infinite number of complex lighting setups, or to do firmware upgrades, on inexpensive Micro SD cards.
THE FUTURE IS HERE & NOW
CYBER COMMANDER™ is the heart and soul of our all-American CyberSync™ family of ultratech 2.4GHz radio remote control components. Quite simply, it’s light years ahead of anything the photo world has ever seen.
In addition to sixteen light channels, CYBER COMMANDER™ offers sixteen user selectable frequencies within the 2.4GHz band for complete freedom from interference or misfiring and from other photographers with radio systems. Extreme signal integrity is assured via 256 bit state-of-the-art encoding.
Its extremely low delay of 1/4000 second allows sync speeds as short as 1/2500 second on cameras capable of fast sync speed, and allows setting conventional DSLR cameras to reach their maximum recommended sync speed of typically 1/250 second.
Typical battery life of six months to two years from a quick-change pair of standard AAA batteries.
CSR+ & CSRB+ Receivers (CSR+, CSRB+)
$89.95
Please note: CSR+ and CSRB+ will only allow the flash units to fire when signaled by the CST/ CYBER COMMANDER. CSR+ and CSRB+ will facilitate the adjustment of flashpower only when used in conjunction with the CYBER COMMANDER™. Non-plus CSR and CSRB will not.
The AC powered CSR+ and battery powered CSRB+ receivers interface between CYBER COMMANDER™ and every flash unit with a remote jack made by Paul C. Buff, Inc.™ since 1986.
Supported lights include AlienBees™, UltraZap, White Lightning Ultra, WLX Series and ZEUS™.
You can also use other manufacturer’s lights with CYBER COMMANDER™, but the function will be limited to remote tripping, grouping and the camera f-stop metering and display. Since they don’t contain a Buff-compatible remote jack the other features cannot be implemented.
The AC powered CSR+ and battery powered CSRB+ receivers communicate bilaterally with CYBER COMMANDER™ to assure reliable receipt of all commands. All CyberSync™ receivers are actually transceivers and employ a selectable repeater mode to allow doubling the firing range. Battery versions use two Alkaline or rechargeable NiMH AA cells with a 200 hour on time. Automatic shutoff after one hour of non-use allows about 50 shooting sessions per charge.
Additionally, all CyberSync™ receivers can be used to trigger most cameras and speed lights with
appropriate connections.
CSRB+ & CSR+ ship with:
- 3.5mm (1/8") male to 3.5mm (1/8") male
- 3.5mm (1/8") male to 1/4" male
- 3.5mm (1/8") to PC
- phone jack to phone jack (RJ-11)

CST Trigger Transmitter (CST)
$59.95
This tiny trigger transmitter mounts on your hotshoe or connects via 2.5mm sync jack and supplied PC cord. It may be used alone, or in conjunction with CYBER COMMANDER™ if you prefer to hand hold the CYBER COMMANDER™ for easy flashmeter readings.
CST sends a trigger command to all sixteen channels simultaneously, at one of the selectable sixteen frequencies in the 2.4GHz band. Thus, any CyberSync™ receiver set to the same frequency will be fired by the CST.
If the CSRB+ or CSR+ receivers are connected to your lights, all grouping and other functions established by your CYBER COMMANDER™ will be honored when the system is fired from the CST .
*Please note that the CST will only send a signal to fire, and does not adjust flashpower
CST's other features:
- flush-mount test button
- 10 fps capabilities
CSR & CSRB Receivers (CSR, CSRB)
$69.95
The AC powered CSR and battery powered CSRB receivers receive only the trigger command sent from CYBER COMMANDER™ or CST transmitter as long as they are set to the same frequency. They have no channel selection and cannot respond to groups or other features of CYBER COMMANDER™.

Thus, a system consisting of CST and CSR or CSRB receivers forms a simple and reliable radio trigger system for all cameras and flash units, regardless of manufacturer. Connections are made via the 1/8” sync jack and supplied cables.
Just put the CST on your hotshoe or connect using supplied PC cord, put CSR or CSRB on your lights or remote fired camera and everything fires securely and reliably.
CSRB & CSR ship with:
-
3.5mm (1/8") male to 3.5mm (1/8") male
-
3.5mm (1/8") male to 1/4" male
-
3.5mm (1/8") to PC
